On Friday, July 10th, we celebrated the opening of “Subconscious Wanderings – The Works of Julia Sonmi Heglund” (www.sonmisonmi.com ) with music by: gary gibps: http://www.myspace.com/garygibpspushmi-pullyu: http://www.myspace.com/pushmipullyumusic
This show is on view from July 10th to 23rd. Below is a description of Julia’s work and some pictures from the opening…
”Julia is a designer and illustrator based in Madison, WI. She enjoys imagery that brings intrigue; whether it be through the mystical, the bizarre, or the grotesque. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006, Julia utilizes her roots in fine art with her interest in child-like styles, creating whimsical worlds with sublime elements to allure the viewer’s mind. ”

Art for Oil is a fundraiser show featuring eleven artists whose pieces range in style from printmaking to photography, drawing to painting, digital to handmade. Clean up efforts are underway in the Gulf of Mexico and there are organizations that need your support.
Artists donated the pieces on display to help raise money for The National Audubon Society and Save Our Seabirds, Inc. NAS is an organization that works directly with oil damaged seabirds while Save Our Seabirds, Inc. works to rehabilitate seabirds. This show began with the belief that art can make a difference.
Each work is original, creative, and affordable for the everyday art lover. Artists come from all over, including Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison, Indiana and Massachusetts.
