We had a great turn out last night for the Semiconductor screening. This was the second film screening presented by The Media Embassy and it was awesome! Cupcakes, Pabst, and videos that brilliantly illustrate unseen phenomena - I can’t imagine a better night. To top it off, Beeple played some new work too. Below is a decription of their work, websites, and a few pictures.
“1999-2007, Semiconductor, UK, ca. 60 min.
UK artist-duo Semiconductor (Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt) have used digital technologies to create what The Wire calls “experimental meta-science fiction.” This program surveyed their career, including the giddily gorgeous glitch of A–Z OF NOISE (1999) and 200 NANOWEBBERS (2005), the elegant urbanscapes of THE SOUND OF MICROCLIMATES (2004), and an astonishing trip into the data archives of solar astronomy in BRILLIANT NOISE (2006), plus others. Various formats. (AB)
Filmmakers Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt were present for audience discussion.”

Menasha’s Mike Winkelmann started things off with an ambient audio/video set.
